Dinner at the Pig Hotel, near Bath

Mums birthday dinner!!

Dress – Forever 21

Miami to Orlando

Naples for the night

Parasailing

On Tuesday 7th August my whole family went over to The Pig near Bath where my parents were staying for the night to celebrate my Mums birthday. It was an extremely posh farm hotel with all 100% organic food. I ate a lot of fish, squid for a starter and plaice as a main.

The restaurant is completely in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by fields and a gorgeous garden. My parents are completely living the high life at the moment going from hotel to hotel with my dads work.

What I have loved this month: July

WEAR

This is my favourite outfit this month. It is so easy especially through this heatwave. When I was in London getting on the tube to work was an absolute nightmare, but when I started to wear my TopShop dresses like this one I felt so much better. The material is very light which makes me want to wear it every day. I never thought orange would be my colour because I have very blonde hair, but after I wore it for the first time I literally fell in love.

Never been to Notting Hill

Summer dresses have been my thing this year, I love pretty things. Boho, girly but I also love the retro, festival style. I can’t wait to share with you all my Boomtown outfits.

READ

This month I have been reading SweetBitter which is a novel by Stephanie Danler. I am not that far into it yet but it is a book that I have seen advertised everywhere, especially in America. It is about a young girl who moves to New York to start her new career but goes down the wrong path by hanging out with the crowd and getting involved with the wrong things. So far I am loving but I do find it hard to find time to read books. Since being in London it has been something that I definitely want to get into as it does increase your worldly knowledge and your ability to read and write. Especially as I am doing a course based slightly on English Literature.

I bought this book from Amazon and I do recommend it as the perfect Summer time read. It is very different to anything I have read before. It has now become a major television show in America which I will start watching once I have finished the book.

BEAUTY

This has been my favourite beauty product for a while. As you can probably tell from my blog I am not massively into make up. I don’t buy expensive make up, I don’t wear lots of make up, I am just not passionate about it. Don’t get me wrong, before I am going on a night out I like to use my Morphe or Naked eye shadow pallets but on a day to day business it just is not my thing. I am way more into skincare and making my skin glow, as you can probably see.

But saying that, I have recently been LOVING this M.A.C highlighter. If there is any make up I wear it is BB cream, mascara and highlighter. This product just makes your skin glow incredibly, without giving it an obvious line across your face. It is very suttle and very thin, making it pretty easy to use and you don’t need much of it. It is the perfect Summer make up product.

This one is called Soft and Gentle – you can check it out through this link!

PLACE

As you all know I have been in London the past 3 weeks so it is very hard for me to pick a favourite place as London as a whole is amazing. But if I had to pick one place it would probably be Covent Garden (or Hyde Park in the Summer)! Covent Garden is the perfect place to go and hang out after work, there is music playing, lots of fancy shops and just a good atmosphere. I was lucky enough to be working just a 20 minute walk from Oxford Street and Covent Garden so I found it extremely hard to not go shopping after work – I think this is how I spent so much money, aha!

July has been a very exciting month for me, a lot of new doors have opened and it has inspired me to do a lot more stuff with my time. Travelling, days out and not just sitting about wasting my days. Life is too short and I would hate to look back in the future and think what if. Make the most of everything.

Fri-NALLYY

My last day and Fire Fly Communication – they bought me a thank you card and notebook for helping out in their company

A pretty building right next to my work – I have to walk through here to get to the office every morning

On the Friday evening I met all my seminar group from University and we went to an event in Tottenham. Was a good way to end my 3 weeks in London!

Friday was my last day working at Firefly Communications in London. I got the train back to Somerset on the Saturday morning where my boyfriend Solly picked me up to go home. As soon as I got home and saw all my friends that evening it felt like I have never been gone. I honestly had the most amazing time away and will definitely be back in London soon. There is way too much to do compared to Somerset and that is what I love. I love to be busy.

Now it is time to go back to working at the pub and getting prepared for Boomtown which is next week!!

Sundaysssss – The Shard & Meat Liqour

Dress – Misguided

You have probably come across a lot of dresses in this style before, I bought this one around this time last year so I don’t think they sell this pattern anymore but they definitely still sell this style of dress. I have only actually worn this once and that was for my boyfriends birthday last September, but I thought it was appropriate for going up The Shard. Its fancy but not too fancy.

Sunday 22nd July

THE SHARD

On Sunday my Dad was on his way through London as he was going to stay at my Auntie Gillys the night before he flew back to Saudi Arabia, so he stopped of late afternoon to see me. I have not seen anyone from home since I have been here, although it has only been 2 weeks it is always nice to see a familiar face.

I met him at London Underground station, where we got search and made our way to the bar in The Shard. I have never actually been up The Shard before but it was definitely something on my bucket list to do while I was here, so there was no better time to do it that when my Dad would be paying, haha!

If you did not know The Shard is the tallest building (at the moment) in London. Inside is a hotel, multiple bars and restaurants, it is extremely expensive and fancy as you can see from the pictures.

My weekend in Photos

Dad and I got a nice window seat and chatted about life with two glasses of champagne in the GONG bar. It was really nice to be able to spill the beans on absolutely everything that had been going on the past two weeks!!

MEAT LIQUOR

After I had been with Dad I went for dinner with my two University friends Joey and Kimia. I hadn’t actually seen Joey yet so was exciting to spend time with him in London! We chilled at Hyde Park for a bit before making our way over to Meat Liquor in Oxford Street. I hadn’t eaten much all day so this burger was perfect! You should follow Kimias food page on Instagram – Kimiaeats – where she post all her food!!

Overall I had the best weekend and I can’t believe it is nearly the end of my time in London, it has been the time of my life. I will definitely be back!

Never been to Notting Hill

Dress – TopShop

This is literally my favourite dress at the moment, it was a very spontaneous buy and different to what I would normally wear as I don’t think I have ever owned anything orange because of my blonde hair. But it works so I would recommend!!

Saturday 21st July

On Saturday my best friend Katie – KT – from University came to visit me in London. She only lives in Gatwick so it is not far for her so she had to come to London for the day while I was here!

I decided we should go to Notting Hill as neither of us had been there before and I heard it is a very funky place. When we got off the underground at Notting Hill station we were so confused. I kind of assumed that when we got there the market would be on our doorstep but I was completely wrong. We found a farmers market and I just assumed that this is all there was, so we stopped at had an early lunch at Zizzis – not very adventurous of us.

We were sat there for quite a long time because we had sooooooo much to catch up on. You have probably seen KT on my blog before on my blog but she is my flat mate from University and we had not seen each other for around 2 months. Going from seeing each other to not seeing each other at all meant we had too much to talk about, but you will definitely be seeing more of her on here very soon.

Before we were about to get the Underground to Chelsea to go ‘Made in Chelsea’ star spotting, I suggested that we just walk a bit further past the station and see what we find. LUCKILY, us venturing out meant we found the huge market and it was so much fun. As you can see from the pictures Notting Hill is filled with flowers, colour and pretty houses.

After walking right to the end of the market (there are a lot of stores) we thought it was best to start making our way to a station to get to Chelsea. Little did we know… that a lot of the stations shut between 2:00PM – 5:30PM on a Saturday and a Sunday to stop traffic – LONDONERS PLEASE TAKE THIS IN!! So after walking miles, we just decided to get a bus to Camden. By the time we had settled down it was time for KT to go back home 😦

Sorry I have been a bit MIA, been super busy trying to make the most of my time in London with friends, my cousins and just making sure I explore!

What am I doing in London & how I am staying organised

I spent Saturday afternoon shopping in Oxford Circus and walking around Carnaby Street. I have never actually been to Carnaby Street and I did not realise how close it was to Oxford Circus but I have always heard good things. It is very funky!

On Friday night my Uni friends and I went to Fabric. It was my first time ever clubbing in London and was definitely one to remember! It was not as scary as I thought it would be.

This is the cute water fountain which is in the kitchen of the office I am working in. I will try and take a lot more pictures of the office as it is so cute, there are plants everywhere and even a roof top balcony.

I am currently a week into my work placement in London and I bet you wonder what I am doing here?

One evening, this lady from down the road asked me to babysit for her children. I said yes because I needed the money and knew it would help her out a lot. When I got there we began talking about University, where I told her I studied Communications and Media at Bournemouth. We had a long old chat about it before she bought up that she used to work for a PR company called FireFly. The lovely women then hooked me up with this amazing work experience in London, where I am going to the FireFly office everyday and learning about what they do.

This is an amazing experience for me as I have always said I want to live in a big city one day, and here is my chance to see if I like it.

I am staying with my second cousins in Stockwell which is just a short commute work. Unfortunately I did not know how busy the tube gets, I don’t know if that is just me being naive but it is awful!! Some mornings I am having to wait for 2 or 3 trains to pass just because I can’t fit on them. I think it is the only time you can be so close into somebodies personal space without it being a problem. I also find it a really weird concept because nobody talks? It is completely silent, everybody is either people watching, reading or listening to their music. The tube is a silent train filled with hundreds of people, its very odd.

Lucky enough for me I have University friends that live in London, so I am not fully on my own. I have a lot of plans for the next 2 weeks, where I am seeing friends and trying to be the biggest tourist I can. Right now, I am currently sat in a coffee shop in Oxford Circus before I go shopping. Being in London is the best excuse to leave the house.

While I am here I want to sit in Hyde Park, visit Soho art galleries, got to Carnaby Street, go for a drink up The Shard and visit Covent Gardens.

So far I have already been to Camden market, as I met my friend Carolina there to watch the football (we couldn’t get into any pubs tho!) On Friday night my friends and I also went to Fabric which was amazing.

My first week in London has been a lot of fun. I am really enjoying my work placement, the people I am working with are lovely and I am just enjoying being a Londoner. There is always stuff to do! My aim for the next week is too take a lot more pictures of my outfits, my food and also to stop spending so much money!

Hope you have enjoyed this little update of what is going on in my life. I really am making the most out of my time here and I want to take you with me on my adventure.

“When it rains, look for rainbows”

How am I staying organised in London?

My way of staying organised is too keep a hand diary and write absolutely everything into it. What time you start work, your plans to see friends, scheduling in the gym. Absolutely everything, put it in your diary. I can stress to you all how much this helps me. I am the type of person that gets extremely stressed out if I don’t have it all laid out in front of me. I don’t like using my phone to stay organised, or online calendars, I prefer to have it all written down in a book in front of me.

This diary I have bought started at the beginning of July, which is perfect as this is when I started full time work in London. It is the perfect way for me to know what I need to get done that day. It also means I can try and fit in seeing everybody while I am here without getting the days wrong!

My weekend in photos

A second dinner with Solly, Friday evening at The Bear Inn. I had already eaten noodles, so I just got a baked camembert, where as Solly got a second dinner, ahah!

On Saturday we watched England play football around my friends house, ITS COMING HOME! We then spent the rest of the day celebrating in the sunshine.

On Sunday, Mum and I travelled to London by train as I am starting my 3 week work experience at Firefly Media. We spent the day trying to find my bearings around London before getting an early night before tomorrow.

The beginning of the Summer…

If you have followed my blog for a while you would know that I make little videos of everything I do. I have had absolutely no motivation to make any at the moment but finally picked myself up and put together a ‘Beginning of the Summer’ video, more like a Spring 2018 video to be honest! These are all videos from January to May, including the BU Summer Ball, University fun, Love Saves the Day, a weekend in Bath, Bristol and a lot more.

Hopefully throughout the Summer I will be making a lot more, let me know if you like it!

A Wednesday lunch at Bocabar

A late Fathers Day & the end of Alice’s exams!!

Today my whole family went for a Wednesday lunch at Bocabar in Glastonbury. It was to celebrate a late Fathers Day and the end of my sisters exams – she has been so stressed! I got a really nice BBQ pulled pork wrap, which completely filled me up, I can’t even eat my dinner!

This morning I went to CrossFit on my own, and this evening attended a Sports Yoga class. Trying to get fit for my family holiday on Sunday.

Date night on a Monday

THE HALFWAY HOUSE

Last night Solly and I spent the evening at a cute little pub on the way to Langport, Somerset. It was such a lush day we may as well of spent it out in the sun. Because I had been working all weekend, Sol and I never got a chance to spend anytime together, we haven’t really had a chance since I have been back from University tbh!! Sol works Monday to Friday, 8 in the morning to late, where as I work most evenings and all over the weekend, so fitting in time to see each other can be difficult.

Solly got a beef burger and I got a beef chilli. I am still trying to be healthy as I am going on holiday with my family to Portugal in less than 2 weeks so I need to get my Summer bod, haha!

In the morning I went to CrossFit with my brother and sister, then spent the whole day relaxing in the sun. It is the first day I have had off work since Tuesday so I was happy to spend it doing absolutely nothing. I even caught a tan!!

Couldn’t think of a better way to spend a Monday!!
