christmas at orange road

THE PERFECT SUNDAY

On Sunday, the house made a roast dinner as a way to end the weekend and to celebrate semester one. How quickly has the time gone? Today Ellie went home for Christmas, Mads is travelling home and Katie and I are going home on Friday, leaving our cute, little house behind for nearly a month. This week I am keeping myself very busy – tomorrow I am going to watch Mabel, spending wednesday at a Christmas market and thursday I have my last lectures of the year, then Katie and I are going for food!! This weekend I am off to Birmingham to visit my sister, then drive her home for Christmas!

Who is excited for Christmas? I honestly cannot wait to get home to my friends and family. In just over 2 weeks I am off to Rome.

beach, burgers & a sinking pedalo

I don’t want this Summer to end

I don’t think I will ever be finished with uploading photographs from Malaga. I took 4 cameras and filled them all but I got some goldies. These are from our last day which we spent in Fuengirola. Our flight was not until the evening and we had to be out of the villa at 10, so we all spent the day on the beach – it was one of my favourite days. Most of our time in Malaga we spent at the villa, which was amazing, but it was so nice to adventure out and spend the day in a different location. We had came to Fuengirola one evening before, so we thought that going back there would be the best idea as then we would know what we are doing.

A couple of us took a pedalo out to sea which was so much fun. I love doing things like this rather than just sitting at the beach.

I do not think I am ready to let go of the Summer. England is freezing cold at the moment, waking up for my 9ams are a struggle!! Jumper weather has come round so quickly, we are now in October – Christmas is coming!!

Malaga 2018

On one of our last evenings in Malaga we thought it would be nice to go for a big family meal. We travelled over to Fueungirola for the first time since being there. We had been told it was somewhere to definitely visit as it was full of life and youth. In Malaga centre, we found that the clubs were very small and there was not much to do in the evenings. Where as Fuengirola was the place we had been hoping for the whole time we were there!

Our meal was so lovely. We went to this open restaurant where we were all able to sit outside. This my favourite evening of the whole holiday, everyone was happy and having so much fun.

MALAGA 2018

In Malaga instead of staying in a hotel, we booked out a huge villa for 20 people on Home and Away and it had it all. We couldn’t of asked for more. It had a hot tub, bed outside, our own pool with a slide, a balcony with a BBQ, a bar and so much more. The only thing we didn’t have was any clubs or shops near by. Technically we weren’t in Malaga, we were right on the out skirts and to get into the centre cost 30 euros – that is where all our money went!!

Getting a villa was the best idea because we could do whatever we wanted, we could wake up, make breakfast and just chill. Because we were in the middle of nowhere we had no noise complaints which was perfect.

If you ever need to book a holiday, go through Home and Away. It is a great service!!

I am officially back at University in Bournemouth and trying to enjoy freshers. I am so ready just to start lectures now, waking up in the morning with nothing to do gets extremely boring!!

5 things I would tell myself as a fresher

PUT YOURSELF OUT THERE

University is the start of a whole new adventure and if I could change the way I went into freshers week is to of put myself out there. By that I mean get involved in everything. Freshers fairs, flat parties or even just sitting with your flat mates, you always want to make a good first impression and not miss out on anything. Starting University is very difficult, you are suddenly on your own in this tiny bedroom with nobody you know. It is a lot. But putting yourself out there will help with the loneliness and open so many more doors for the rest of the year.

THE PEOPLE YOU FIRST MEET WILL NOT NECESSARILY BE THE PEOPLE YOU HANG OUT WITH ALL YEAR

This is something that I really struggled with. I basically moved into my halls a day late so everybody had already had a night out together, leaving me feeling extremely left out. But i seriously tried my hardest to get involved with everybody but the people I hung out with through freshers (apart from Katie) just were not my kind of people. They were lush and sweet don’t get me wrong but extremely cliquey and coming in a day late it seemed as if they did not have the time of day for me. I got really upset that I was not going to make anymore friends but I was lucky enough to through out the year of met the best girls and boys I know. DO not think you won’t meet anyone else, because you will. You have all year to make best friends.

DON’T ARGUE WITH YOUR FLAT MATES

Unfortunately through out my first year at University my flat mates began to argue with each other due to nobody having my respect for people things. I learnt through the year to just not get involved, when somebody has something wrong wit somebody else, lend an ear but maybe not an opinion. You are living with these people for the whole year so to make it easier get on with everybody even if you don’t agree with what they do. You begin to realise that everybody is completely different so respect each other.

PUT LESS PRESSURE ON YOURSELF

Freshers is bigged up massively whether you are a student or not, this is what University is known for. A whole week of clubbing, socialising and drinking, but this could be new to some people. All I am saying is don’t put pressure on yourself to live up the the freshers expectations. The build up to freshers is huge but it is not the make or break of University life. If you miss a couple of nights out it is not the end of the world, you will be going out socialising for the whole year, so there is no rush to meet lots of people.

MAKE UNIVERSITY YOUR HOME

Because I have a boyfriend and lots of very close friends at home I spent a lot of my weekends travelling back to hang out with them, but although I don’t regret it I wish I made my halls more like my home. Although I was comfortable in my room, I wasn’t that comfortable in my flat. My top tip is to spend as much time there as possible because before you know it you will be back home again for the Summer, and let me tell you know… I am bored!! I can’t wait to go back.

Good luck to all you first years, I am jealous of you all! First year is the best!!

BOOMTOWN 2018

It is currently the Wednesday after Boomtown and I am sat on my bed trying to recover. I feel like I have so much to do but my brain will not let me, the Boomtown blues are real. This is the only festival I have this year and it makes me so sad that I have to wait for such a long time for another. These are the only photographs I got on my phone through the whole weekend as I spent most of my time taking videos and trying to fill up my disposable cameras.

This weekend Solly and I are going camping so I am trying to organise all of our stuff to make it perfect. I hope the weather get better!! Today I will get half of my disposables printed and I can’t wait. I feel like I have so much going on the next couple of weeks. Camping, BBQ and birthdays, Malaga, my boyfriends birthday, visiting London again and then the move back to University. I am trying to write lots of lists to make sure everything gets done.

Happy Wednesday everybody!

BU Summer Ball – Just a couple of eggs

SUBU Summer Ball – Bournemouth University

At the end of the year, Bournemouth University puts on a a Summer Ball which is more like a festival, where all the students dress up as anything they want and spend the whole day partying. This year the line up was not as good, last year they had Chase & Status and My Nu Leng! But this year they had MK, Friction and a couple other DJs. The whole event was put on amazingly, although it was quite small it was like a festival. They had lots of different dance tents including a Bestival, Foreverland and Apple Bum stage.

As you can see, myself and 4 other girls dressed up as eggs. It sounded like a good idea and we got a lot of compliments but it was absolutely boiling. By the time it got to me taking off my egg and wearing my Topshop glittery dress, I was so sweaty it didn’t look good, haha!

The whole day was absolutely amazing, the best send of to first year with all my friends – I couldn’t ask for a better group of people at University!

Roll on the rest of the Summer!!
