PORTUGAL 2018 – FAMILY HOLIDAY
I have finally finished my Portugal video!! I tried out some new effects, such as glitches and fast zooms. Instead of making this video out people I was planning on making it slightly more artistic, but unfortunately I made it once amazingly and lost it. So I had to stick with this version. I am still proud of it but upset about how bad the quality is once I have put it on Youtube.
Flower power & Pina coladas
A beautiful day for a beautiful beach
Óbidos Castle: a different day, a different beach
If you want to see it in better quality have a look on my Instagram account @emilymaythorne!! I DON NOT OWN THE RIGHTS TO THIS SONG: Louis the Child – Slow Down Love.
I hope you enjoy it anyway!
Sao Marinho Do Porto beach on a beautifully sunny day.
Jack and I getting out of the sea in the Golden Hour!
Cute little shops below and surrounding Obidos Castle.
There were decorated bikes everywhere in Portugal. We came to the conclusion that they were our version on scarecrows or something, haha!
The best spaghetti carbonara I have had in a very long time!! After a day at the beach we were all desperate for Italian food (apart from my brother who just craves meat.) We found the cutest little resturent just by the beach with the nicest waitresses and the best food.
Alice and I ‘paddle boarding,’ haha! The tide was so strong this day that my Mum and Dad pulled us along on there kaiak, how lazy are we.
My brother and I enjoying the freezing cold sea. The waves were massive this day we were being completely swept away.
Our family villa. What a beautiful view!!
Another picture from Obidos Castle, the place was so beautiful and filled with colour.
The first day at the beach, obviously holding a nice, cold mojito!
A little TB of my family holiday in Portugal. I can not wait to go away in September with my friends!! Although England is sunny, there is nothing like a holiday. Summer is the best!
This year I have quite a few plans. First of all I am going to Portugal with my family for 10 days, then as soon as I get back I am moving to London for 3 weeks to work with Firefly media. I got work experience there through a lady I baby sat for!! Exciting, I will explain more about it when it comes to it. Then I have BOOMTOWN and am going to Malaga with my friends at the beginning of September. These are my main plans but also have a lot of little days out and festivals planned as well!
FAVOURITE SUMMER DRINK:
Pimms or Thatchers and Black, I normally drink wine but I feel like it is more for the Winter. Wine can be a bit thick especially when it is so warm outside.
MOST FUN SUMMER MEMORY:
Probably Glastonbury festival last year (2017), Glastonbury festival is the best place in the world and will always be the best part of the Summer. But it is not on this year 😦
FAVOURITE BBQ FOOD:
Big fat burger, I do love a hot dog as-well with onions cheese and lots of KETCHUP, yum!!
MY DREAM SUMMER DESTINATION:
I would love to go to Bali, it looks beautiful!! I want to do a big holiday next year with Solly because we are not going away together this year apart from our group holiday.
FAVOURITE SUMMER PLACE:
When it is warm I love just spending the Summer at the pub. Being sat outside while the sun goes down, perfect.
FAVOURITE SUMMER SENT:
Paddle boarding, kaiaking & my favourite Summer scent
IM REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO:
At the moment I am really looking forward to BOOMTOWN!! Just 2 weeks left of work experience in London.
3 THINGS I LOVE MOST ABOUT THE SUMMER:
1.THE WEATHER (well its very hit and miss in England, haha!) 2. Spending time outside with friends and family. 3. Festival season!!!

As you would of seen in my post A beautiful day for a beautiful beach, my family and I stopped at a new restaurant, right on the sea front. So we thought one evening we should definitely show our support and check it out.
The whole restaurant is windows, making it extremely picturesque. The sun sets all around you while sipping on wine and eating beautiful food. I had a cod fish, which was battered, covered in onions, cheese and potato wedges. For me, the portion size was perfect but my family thought it was too small. It is a new restaurant which opened a couple days before we went there for dinner so nobody was expecting perfection, but I really enjoyed it!
Tuesday 3rd July
For the last day of our holiday we spent the afternoon in Lisbon. We had to be out of the villa by 10:00AM and were catching a flight home from Lisbon airport at 5:00PM, so spending the day in the city seemed like the best idea.
Personally, I absolutely loved Lisbon. it reminded me of being in Barcelona (my favourite city in the world.) There were people everywhere, restaurants throughout the streets and a lot of atmosphere.
By the time we had travelled and parked in Lisbon it was already 12:00PM, so the first thing we decided to do was EAT! As it was the last day of the holiday, I treated myself to an amazing hawaiian pizza. While waiting for the food I had a little peep in Zara because I needed to buy some clothes for work in London. Shopping in Lisbon is really good!!
After this we travelled to the airport, before flying back to England. What an amazing holiday!!
Monday 2nd July
We all spent out last day on Berlinga Island, a tiny island off the coast of Portugal. At 2:00PM we caught a boat over the crazy seas. My dad and brother were desperate to try out the surfing while we were away but unfortunately the waves were never big enough, but typically we choice to get a boat over the ocean on a day where the waves are crazy. It was a very windy boat ride, ahahaha! But at least it was only a 20 – 30 minute ride.
When we got there none of us could believe it. It seemed as if people were on holiday there, with girls washing in the sea, a tiny beach, boat everywhere, it was a completely different culture and was very interesting!
First of all we walked to the castle on the other side of the island. It was right over the hills and down hundreds of steps. My mum, sister and I did not come prepared when we wore flip – flops and carried huge handbags. When we got there we had a look around, a quick drink before heading back to the little beach. I was desperate to go snorkelling.
Unfortunately, when my cousin, Jack and I went snorkelling we did not see many fish but we did climb into a cave. It had its own private beach inside but the waves were crashing in so heavily that I got scared.
If you are staying near Lisbon in Portugal I would recommend spending the day at Berlinga Island, it is a great experience and beautiful place.
