I spent the end of my Easter holidays in Brighton with my best friend and house mate Katie. I have never been to Brighton before but it was definitely and experience and I will be back. We drank cocktails, coffee and sat by the beach before going out to Shoosh with my course friend Tia and her boyfriend. Brighton is such a beautiful place which was a perfect end to such a lush Easter holiday with my friend and family before the stress of University work kicked in.

I am now back at Uni, I drove back yesterday morning before going to my first revision lecture. I am happy to be back but I am worried about getting lazy. University gives you a lot of free time which is sometimes hard to fill without spending a lot of money, but I am ready to keep myself busy and motivated 24/7. When I am motivated I also eat a lot better and I am going on holiday in a month so it is time to put myself in a hole of revision and fitness before I really regret it!!

Happy Tuesday everybody and last day of April!

souk in dubai

SOUK MADINAT JUMERIAH

Currently sat on my sofa after a very long week, wishing I was back in Dubai. How crazy is this weather change? After such a beautiful bank holiday weekend we are now left with miserable, black clouds. I have just got back from an amazing night in Brighton visiting my best friend Katie. We stayed at her sisters and explored everything to do with the gay capital. Today (Saturday 27th April) I have work before going out tonight to celebrate my brother and sisters birthday with all our friends. Tomorrow we are going for dinner at ASK Italian to celebrate with the family before we all head back to University. Honestly, I cannot wait to go back. Not going to lie I have not spent this Easter break chilling like I should of, I am absolutely knackers from working and socialising, now left with lots of University work to do. This week is all about getting my sh*t together before I weekend in an Eco Pod with Solly.

A morning at a Market & a touch on kindness

Naples for the Night

One evening in Dubai we spent at a market. We went to shop but instead walked around for a bit and then sat down for a cocktail. These buildings are so beautiful, Dubai is so photogenic.

TWELVE EATERY – VEGAN RESTAURANT

I had a very exciting week last week going for lots of little brunch’s. For my University project I have to create a news feature about anything we want, so I am writing one about the health benefits of veganism. This is an interesting topic for me, as I believe that one day (when I can afford really nice food) I will be a vegan. I am currently giving up meat for lent and am really enjoying it. I don’t even miss eating any type of meat as there are so many other options. I am giving myself a day off on my birthday, just so I can treat myself on my 21st!!

This restaurant Ellie, Katie and I went to is a new vegan place that has opened up in Bournemouth. I have never eaten there before so we went for a cute brunch, which ended up being quite posh. I would definitely say we had a light lunch as all of us were still hungry after but I definitely enjoyed what I ate and would recommend giving them a visit.

I am extremely interested in my health and fitness at the moment. I have thrown myself into the gym and have been eating extremely well (for a Universtiy student.) This week I have no motivation to do anything productive because I am so excited for the weekend. I am turning 21 and am celebrating with all of my friends!! Keep updated with everything on my Instagram – @emilymaythorne.

the real eating company & lunchd collab!

Outfit: Dress – isawitfirst & top – Primark.

On Saturday afternoon, I was lucky enough to of been invited to a bloggers event at The Real Eating Company in Bournemouth. Little did I know, this cafe would be a hidden gem down a small back road on the high street. They are currently creating a collaboration with Lunch’d, to make delicious takeaway lunch boxes which are healthy, gluten and dairy free so that customers can grab it and go.

The 1st menu will feature:

MY PHAT GREEK BOX: Aubergine Moussaka & Quinoa Greek Salad with hummus & balsamic dressing (this is the box that the Bournemouth Bloggers got to try)

JERK CHICKEN BOX: Pulled Jerk Chick Roasted Sweet potato & Quinoa Super Salad with pomegranate seeds & lime. Served with seasonal slaw.

Helena Hudson, the owner of Real Eating Company says, “we are thrilled that Lunch’d is coming to the Real Eating Company Bournemouth. Oli creates and cooks really delicious healthy food and I can’t wait for our customers to try it. It’s also great to be able to offer this opportunity to a successful, smaller company when the cost of being on the high street is increasingly prohibitive.”  The Real Eating Company has had a site in Bournemouth for 4 years now, having been names ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ at Dorset Food, Drink and Farming Awards. It is an independent business with a collection of food destinations in five towns in the South East – using local products whenever they can all day.

Oli Perron, founder of Lunch’d adds, “we’ve been approached before to white label for other cafe groups, but the opportunity to collaborate as a pop-up with The real Eating Company to showcase our new seasonal Hotboxes felt like a perfect match. We’ve been solely supplying offices since the first lunch in 2013, so this will be the first time non-office based customers can try us out.” Lunch’d was launched in 2014 providing healthy, gluten and dairy free meals including vegan options to companies across the county in a subscription basis and also caters for events.

This collaboration will start on the 5th March (TODAY) and will continue every Tuesday and Wednesday – customers can grab and go or dine in. Each box will be priced at £6.65.

always time for a coffee

Conto Lounge, Winton

On a rainy, autumn day my friend Katie and I went for a nice coffee (she got a hot chocolate) at the Conto Lounge on Winton high street. I think I spend around £20 a week on a nice coffee, the addiction I getting a bit ridiculous.

So the weather has taken a turn for the worst, it is officially winter and my mood is at an all time low. It is the beginning of my reading week and I am spending it at my boyfriends house. The fact I have the whole week off is stressing me out, I have so much I need to do and feel like I won’t get it all done. Solly also has his exam to become a qualified electrician on Friday. I am staying with my boyfriend all week as my Mum has officially moved out to Saudi Arabia to be with my Dad and I am not going to see either of them until Christmas. My house is so cold and empty.

The weather is definitely affecting everybody’s moods, it is dark by 5PM and I just want the Summer back already.

Happy November everybody! Time to get into the Christmas spirit.
