souk in dubai

SOUK MADINAT JUMERIAH

Currently sat on my sofa after a very long week, wishing I was back in Dubai. How crazy is this weather change? After such a beautiful bank holiday weekend we are now left with miserable, black clouds. I have just got back from an amazing night in Brighton visiting my best friend Katie. We stayed at her sisters and explored everything to do with the gay capital. Today (Saturday 27th April) I have work before going out tonight to celebrate my brother and sisters birthday with all our friends. Tomorrow we are going for dinner at ASK Italian to celebrate with the family before we all head back to University. Honestly, I cannot wait to go back. Not going to lie I have not spent this Easter break chilling like I should of, I am absolutely knackers from working and socialising, now left with lots of University work to do. This week is all about getting my sh*t together before I weekend in an Eco Pod with Solly.

Naples for the Night

One evening in Dubai we spent at a market. We went to shop but instead walked around for a bit and then sat down for a cocktail. These buildings are so beautiful, Dubai is so photogenic.

BURJ KHALIFA

On our first full day in Dubai, we spent the evening at Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. The highest viewing point is 163 floors but it is not accessible. The top floor we were able to view from was 555 metre high, “At the Top Sky.”

After we watched the sunset from the top of the building, we travelled back down and watch the Dubai Fountain Show out the front. As you can see from the photographs it was incredible!

Font Magica de Montjuic – The Magic Fountain

We ate a lovely dinner just outside the building called Serafina Dubai, where my dad and brother were able to drink Thatchers and I was able to have an Expresso Martini!! Such a surreal evening.

THE PALM – JUMEIRAH

I am now home from an amazing 5 nights in Dubai. I couldn’t write any blogs because of the wifi so I have a lot to update you on. Although the holiday was extremely relaxing we were also so busy. My mum planned for us to do something every single evening.

We spent the first day at The Meddirra hotel where my parents had been staying two nights before Alice, Jack and I arrived. We had the most amazing flight over with Emerites and after sitting on a plane for 7 hours I have now decided after University I want to become an air hostess!!! Travelling the world for free and earning a profit, what could go wrong?

We flew over night so we arrived in Dubai at 7:00AM local time, which is 4:00AM in England. I then did not sleep the whole day until the evening to sort my sleeping pattern. The first day was the hottest, it reached 39 degrees and blonde me thought my skin could handle it even after 6 months with no sun. I then got completely burnt and couldn’t go out in it the next day, hahah!

On another note, I have booked to go to Alicante at the end of the Summer with 20 of my friends and booked to go to Madeira with my bestie Katie!! I am also looking to go to Berlin and hopefully a short holiday with Solly. As you can tell, I want to spend my whole Summer abroad ahah!

live in the moment

I am slowly getting back into the swing of blogging as my life is getting busier, getting involved with bloggers events and exciting new adventures coming up. In less than 2 weeks I am flying out to Dubai for our family to be reunited and I cannot wait! After that I am home for Easter for 2 weeks, so I can revamp before a busy last month at Uni, how scary!

Happy Wednesday everybody! This week I am spending a lot of time in the library completely 2 of my final assignments before Easter. This weekend Solly is coming to visit which I am extremely excited about, I feel like I haven’t seen him in ages. I am trying to make sure I do everything I can before my second year of Uni is over. I don’t want it to end I am having so much fun!

Have an amazing rest of your week.

AN AMAZING VEGAN BRUNCH

For my latest University project I had to create a news feature about anything I wanted, so I decided to create one about ‘The Explosion of Vegansim.’ To do this I had to visit different vegan restaurant and gather different opinions.

Katie and I went to ‘Mad Cucumber’ at the top of Bournemouth town for brunch. As you can see from the bottom photograph it was delicious. For lent, Katie and I have given up meat which I am currently struggling with as I am going out for Thai food this evening, haha! On my birthday I did eat a little bit of meat (because it was my birthday) but I have never felt so bloated afterwards. Your body adapts extremely quickly.

This restaurant had a lot of Glastonbury vibes which made it extremely comfortable and friendly.

Sol and I stayed for 1 night in the Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel, on Park Street in Bristol. The hotel was so lovely and extremely up market for myself and Sol.

Opening my presents from Sol and his mum on Monday morning. He got me lots of little bits such as trainers, earrings, joggers and a trip to an Eco Pod in Devon, May bank holiday weekend!

We went for dinner Sunday evening at San Carlo restaurant which is an amazing Italian on Park Street.

A cheese cake that the Miller & Carter brought over to me at breakfast while I was sat all on my own!! Sol and I spent most of my birthday eating at buffets. We had a buffet breakfast and went to Zaza Bazars for lunch, a day full of food.

MALAGA DISPOSABLES

My photographs from Malaga will never end. It was the best week ever and I can’t wait to start organising the next one. The weather in England is horrible, especially in my Uni house when we have 2 hours of heating a day.

I am currently sat here on my day off Uni creating my 2018 videos and planning all the holidays I am going to go on in the Summer – with allllllll the money I have, haha! I cannot wait for the weather to heat up so we can all spend everyday at Bournemouth beach! These are disposable photographs from the group holiday I organised to Malaga which I have never shared.

Today I am going to re – do my whole blog, it is time for a fresh start as I have had emilymaythorne.com for around 3 years. I feel like a lot of the posts need deleting as I want to concentrate on travel, food and my photography! Here is my new Instagram page that I have created – https://www.instagram.com/emilymaythorne/ – please give it a follow!

Happy Wednesday everybody, have a goo rest of your day.

ROME: 31MM CAMERA PICTURES

Hello everyone! Its 2 days after my exam and I feel like I have absolutely nothing to do. I am trying to just chill and enjoy my time before starting new modules on Monday, but I feel so guilty doing nothing.

City of Love

Miami to Orlando

A Tapa Tapa Evening in Barcelona

The other day I finally got my Rome photos from my Dads old 31mm camera printed so I wanted to share them all. I thought they would of come out a bit better but I am still learning how to use it. The style of these pictures are cute and old fashioned so I want to use the camera more.

I am seriously missing being in another country exploring, and I am missing my Solly since being back at University. I think it is time to book up some more trips.

the best of 2018

NOTHING BUT LOVE & HAPPINESS IN 2019

It is the morning after New Years Eve and I have entered the New Year in an amazing mind set. TIME TO GET MY SHIT TOGETHER.

Here are my best photos of 2018, everybody knows how much I love photos. This year I have done so much. Travelled, been to festivals and made so many amazing friends – I could not of done much more. But 2019 is going to be bigger and full of nothing but smiles.

I have just started reading a book called “The Power of Now” – it has opened my mind and way of thinking. 2019 is about being more spiritual and start to believe that everything happens for a reason, what will be will be. Everybody just needs to love the life they live because you will only be here once. A quote to take into the New Year is “I am in charge of how I feel and today I chose happiness.”

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE. I HOPE YOUR HEARTS ARE  FULL OF LOVE, JOY AND HAPPINESS.
