City of Love

J’adore Paris – 35mm

Around 3 years ago my cousins and I spent a couple nights in Paris. We ate, we drank and visited every sight there is to the point our feet were in pieces. For some stupid reason I wore high heels on the day we visited the Eiffel Tower and by the end my feet were in 2, I do not wear high heels and I don’t think I ever have since. My mum booked this trip to Paris for us and placed us in the gay capital of Paris so going out in the evenings was hilarious. We met the funniest people while sat drinking funky cocktails.

I used a 35mm lens camera to take thee photos and they came out amazing. I love the look of disposable cameras and this is just a better quality version. It made the whole trip look extremely vintage and old fashion which is the style I love. I haven’t used this camera since because I just have to found an occasion. There is so much technology these days, when i go abroad I would be taking 3 cameras.

Paris is definitely somewhere I would visit again but there are a lot more city breaks that I want to do first including Berlin, Dublin, Amsterdam, Rome and I would definitely rush back to Barcelona first!!

I am currently getting all my outfits together for Boomtown on Thursday, how exciting!! Typical that the weather had done a complete 1-80, now its meant to be raining this weekend.

Sundaysssss – The Shard & Meat Liqour

Dress – Misguided

You have probably come across a lot of dresses in this style before, I bought this one around this time last year so I don’t think they sell this pattern anymore but they definitely still sell this style of dress. I have only actually worn this once and that was for my boyfriends birthday last September, but I thought it was appropriate for going up The Shard. Its fancy but not too fancy.

Sunday 22nd July

THE SHARD

On Sunday my Dad was on his way through London as he was going to stay at my Auntie Gillys the night before he flew back to Saudi Arabia, so he stopped of late afternoon to see me. I have not seen anyone from home since I have been here, although it has only been 2 weeks it is always nice to see a familiar face.

I met him at London Underground station, where we got search and made our way to the bar in The Shard. I have never actually been up The Shard before but it was definitely something on my bucket list to do while I was here, so there was no better time to do it that when my Dad would be paying, haha!

If you did not know The Shard is the tallest building (at the moment) in London. Inside is a hotel, multiple bars and restaurants, it is extremely expensive and fancy as you can see from the pictures.

My weekend in Photos

Dad and I got a nice window seat and chatted about life with two glasses of champagne in the GONG bar. It was really nice to be able to spill the beans on absolutely everything that had been going on the past two weeks!!

MEAT LIQUOR

After I had been with Dad I went for dinner with my two University friends Joey and Kimia. I hadn’t actually seen Joey yet so was exciting to spend time with him in London! We chilled at Hyde Park for a bit before making our way over to Meat Liquor in Oxford Street. I hadn’t eaten much all day so this burger was perfect! You should follow Kimias food page on Instagram – Kimiaeats – where she post all her food!!

Overall I had the best weekend and I can’t believe it is nearly the end of my time in London, it has been the time of my life. I will definitely be back!

What am I doing in London & how I am staying organised

I spent Saturday afternoon shopping in Oxford Circus and walking around Carnaby Street. I have never actually been to Carnaby Street and I did not realise how close it was to Oxford Circus but I have always heard good things. It is very funky!

On Friday night my Uni friends and I went to Fabric. It was my first time ever clubbing in London and was definitely one to remember! It was not as scary as I thought it would be.

This is the cute water fountain which is in the kitchen of the office I am working in. I will try and take a lot more pictures of the office as it is so cute, there are plants everywhere and even a roof top balcony.

I am currently a week into my work placement in London and I bet you wonder what I am doing here?

One evening, this lady from down the road asked me to babysit for her children. I said yes because I needed the money and knew it would help her out a lot. When I got there we began talking about University, where I told her I studied Communications and Media at Bournemouth. We had a long old chat about it before she bought up that she used to work for a PR company called FireFly. The lovely women then hooked me up with this amazing work experience in London, where I am going to the FireFly office everyday and learning about what they do.

This is an amazing experience for me as I have always said I want to live in a big city one day, and here is my chance to see if I like it.

I am staying with my second cousins in Stockwell which is just a short commute work. Unfortunately I did not know how busy the tube gets, I don’t know if that is just me being naive but it is awful!! Some mornings I am having to wait for 2 or 3 trains to pass just because I can’t fit on them. I think it is the only time you can be so close into somebodies personal space without it being a problem. I also find it a really weird concept because nobody talks? It is completely silent, everybody is either people watching, reading or listening to their music. The tube is a silent train filled with hundreds of people, its very odd.

Lucky enough for me I have University friends that live in London, so I am not fully on my own. I have a lot of plans for the next 2 weeks, where I am seeing friends and trying to be the biggest tourist I can. Right now, I am currently sat in a coffee shop in Oxford Circus before I go shopping. Being in London is the best excuse to leave the house.

While I am here I want to sit in Hyde Park, visit Soho art galleries, got to Carnaby Street, go for a drink up The Shard and visit Covent Gardens.

So far I have already been to Camden market, as I met my friend Carolina there to watch the football (we couldn’t get into any pubs tho!) On Friday night my friends and I also went to Fabric which was amazing.

My first week in London has been a lot of fun. I am really enjoying my work placement, the people I am working with are lovely and I am just enjoying being a Londoner. There is always stuff to do! My aim for the next week is too take a lot more pictures of my outfits, my food and also to stop spending so much money!

Hope you have enjoyed this little update of what is going on in my life. I really am making the most out of my time here and I want to take you with me on my adventure.

“When it rains, look for rainbows”

How am I staying organised in London?

My way of staying organised is too keep a hand diary and write absolutely everything into it. What time you start work, your plans to see friends, scheduling in the gym. Absolutely everything, put it in your diary. I can stress to you all how much this helps me. I am the type of person that gets extremely stressed out if I don’t have it all laid out in front of me. I don’t like using my phone to stay organised, or online calendars, I prefer to have it all written down in a book in front of me.

This diary I have bought started at the beginning of July, which is perfect as this is when I started full time work in London. It is the perfect way for me to know what I need to get done that day. It also means I can try and fit in seeing everybody while I am here without getting the days wrong!

A sunset dinner & a day in Lisbon

Sunday 1st July

Dress – TopShop

As you would of seen in my post A beautiful day for a beautiful beach, my family and I stopped at a new restaurant, right on the sea front. So we thought one evening we should definitely show our support and check it out.

The whole restaurant is windows, making it extremely picturesque. The sun sets all around you while sipping on wine and eating beautiful food. I had a cod fish, which was battered, covered in onions, cheese and potato wedges. For me, the portion size was perfect but my family thought it was too small. It is a new restaurant which opened a couple days before we went there for dinner so nobody was expecting perfection, but I really enjoyed it!

Tuesday 3rd July

For the last day of our holiday we spent the afternoon in Lisbon. We had to be out of the villa by 10:00AM and were catching a flight home from Lisbon airport at 5:00PM, so spending the day in the city seemed like the best idea.

Personally, I absolutely loved Lisbon. it reminded me of being in Barcelona (my favourite city in the world.) There were people everywhere, restaurants throughout the streets and a lot of atmosphere.

By the time we had travelled and parked in Lisbon it was already 12:00PM, so the first thing we decided to do was EAT! As it was the last day of the holiday, I treated myself to an amazing hawaiian pizza. While waiting for the food I had a little peep in Zara because I needed to buy some clothes for work in London. Shopping in Lisbon is really good!!

After this we travelled to the airport, before flying back to England. What an amazing holiday!!

A morning at a Market & a touch on kindness

Thursday 28th June

As my brother, sister and cousin Kieran wanted to spend the morning at a gym, the rest of us thought we would go and pick up some fruit and vegetables from a local market. I love markets!! They are so pretty and a great place to people watch. Looking at the difference in culture is crazy, but I find it extremely interesting. The market was so pretty, even the buildings around it were coated in lovely pastel colours. Colours like this are my favourite, I just love looking at bright places.

Alice and I cooked for everybody in the evening, a delicious bolognese just after the England World Cup match. What did you all think of it? Pretty boring?

KINDNESS

I have wanted to talk about something like this for a while, and I think while being away from home it is a great time to do so. It is always good to get away from any negativity.

“The world is filled with nice people, if you can’t find one, be one”

Kindness is extremely underrated. For me, there is one trait I try my hardest to always be and a trait I look for in other people – that is to be kind.

According to the latest research, people who are generous benefit from their behaviour, from lower stress levels to happier relationship and it can also reduce the risk of heart disease. Being kind is a simple concept that we take for granted in those that we surround ourselves with. The most obvious benefit is that is makes others feel good, and while making others happy, you also inspire them to want to do something kind for somebody else. When you commit to such a simple act, those around you will take note and it becomes contagious.

“A more kindness, a little less judgmental”

It is about less finger pointing and more smiling. Give a compliment to the girl who’s dress you like, say good morning to the guy who is making your coffee in Starbucks, tell your parents that you love them. But most of all, learn to say thank you to those who do their best to help you. It is about less judgment on other peoples lives and a bit more kindness.

“No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted”

You know people who feel appreciated will do so much more than they are wiling to, we all have our bad days and we all have mood swings, so just a few kind words coming from you will probably make them feel better. Everyone is going through their own struggle, no matter how big or small. It doesn’t give you the right to judge people on their own insecurities, because do you honestly, does it make you feel better when you are pointing out somebodies weakness?

I am just trying to say that a pinch of kindness never hurt nobody. It is time that people learn the importance of self love, why they should be kind to themselves and then understanding that everybody deserves happiness.

Remember… your smile is contagious.

Óbidos Castle: a different day, a different beach

Wednesday 27th June

On our way too a new beach my Dad wanted to go the rural way and stop at a castle. I am glad we did, the place was beautiful. Filled with colours, flowers and culture. It was like walking the Great Wall of China, ahah. You had to walk along a wall that was extremely high in the air, with no wall on one side, to get to the castle, as you can see in my second photograph.

After we walked around around the shops and got a coffee in a cute cafe. It was very hot so by the time we had finished, we were ready for the beach.

We went to the other side of Peniche beach, where there were a lot more people, bars and rocks to climb on. My family and I love to just sit on the beach, especially when it is sunny. My brother is like a fish so he gets very bored, but loves it when someone actually gets in the sea with him, haha!

Nearly everyday we have been travelling to a different beach that Dad discovers on google maps. It is always exciting to try new things.

A look back on June & my goals for July

Recap of June

This month I have spent, moving out of halls, catching up with friends and working to pay for all my Summer plans.

On the 2nd June I had the Summer Ball which I have spoken about before. It was so much fun, my friends and I dressed up as eggs, haha! The next day I officially moved out of University and came back to see my boyfriend.

Throughout the last month I have been trying to get back into my fitness as I want to be completely body confident for festivals and my holidays. Since coming on holiday it has gone completely down the drain. I have been scoffing my face on cheese and bread, while my brother, sister and mum have been getting up at 9:00AM to do a workout, haha. I don’t know why I am just not in the mood while I am on holiday.

When I get back from Portugal, I only have 4 days before I move to London for 3 weeks, ahh!! I am also working so I need to get myself organised now as there is a lot of shopping to do, a lot packing and a lot of friends to see before hand!! Solly is away with his family at the moment in Portugal (but 3 hours from me) and isn’t getting home till a day after me, so I won’t have very long to spend time with him before not seeing him for nearly a month :(.

I am absolutely loving Grace Fit UK at the moment. She has become a very big inspiration! Check out her YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1QbgAuzMDsWn7eCtImRB7Q

July Goals

I am not going to really call these goals, more of a plan. As I have said I am spending most of July in London and I want to make the most of it. I absolutely love London but going from a small village in Somerset to such a big city will be a culture shock.

I have found a gym just down the road from where I am staying, and I am planning to lose at least half a stone. I am going to achieve this by meal planning, staying busy and organising my workouts, rather than just turning up at the gym. I want to be feeling confident in what I am wearing at Boomtown, which is just after I get back from London.

I want to prioritise what is important. While I am in London, it is important to make the most of my opportunity, to keep up with my blogging and fitness. I will also be spending a lot of time with close University friends while I am away. I want to find out what London has to offer, not just stick to what I know, you never know, I could love it so much I move there after University.

I will be sharing a lot more about what I am doing in London throughout my time there. Press the follow button to keep updated!

Date night on a Monday

THE HALFWAY HOUSE

Last night Solly and I spent the evening at a cute little pub on the way to Langport, Somerset. It was such a lush day we may as well of spent it out in the sun. Because I had been working all weekend, Sol and I never got a chance to spend anytime together, we haven’t really had a chance since I have been back from University tbh!! Sol works Monday to Friday, 8 in the morning to late, where as I work most evenings and all over the weekend, so fitting in time to see each other can be difficult.

Solly got a beef burger and I got a beef chilli. I am still trying to be healthy as I am going on holiday with my family to Portugal in less than 2 weeks so I need to get my Summer bod, haha!

In the morning I went to CrossFit with my brother and sister, then spent the whole day relaxing in the sun. It is the first day I have had off work since Tuesday so I was happy to spend it doing absolutely nothing. I even caught a tan!!

Couldn’t think of a better way to spend a Monday!!

Somerset

My first year of University is over and I am home for the Summer. After a hectic week it is time to relax – I have been out a lot!

Today is my only day of before I start work again. I need to work full time for 3 weeks before I go on holiday to Portugal with my family, because straight afterward I am moving to London for a month and working for Firefly Media, how exciting!

With working at the pub, I also have a lot of gyming to do, it is time to get back into my home routine and I am excited.

I hope you are all enjoying the sun!

I have finished my first year at University!

My first year of University is officially over!

On Friday 25th May I had my first/last exam which went extremely well. The feeling of relief when I walked out of the exam hall was brilliant and we all headed straight to spoons. That night I went lollipop at The Old Firestation with all of my course friends and we had the best night. It was also National Wine Day.

I have had a very busy week ahead of me, I have had Love Saves the Day this weekend and I am going back to university this week for the Summer Ball and to celebrate the end of exams with my friends.
