BOOMTOWN 2018

It is currently the Wednesday after Boomtown and I am sat on my bed trying to recover. I feel like I have so much to do but my brain will not let me, the Boomtown blues are real. This is the only festival I have this year and it makes me so sad that I have to wait for such a long time for another. These are the only photographs I got on my phone through the whole weekend as I spent most of my time taking videos and trying to fill up my disposable cameras.

This weekend Solly and I are going camping so I am trying to organise all of our stuff to make it perfect. I hope the weather get better!! Today I will get half of my disposables printed and I can’t wait. I feel like I have so much going on the next couple of weeks. Camping, BBQ and birthdays, Malaga, my boyfriends birthday, visiting London again and then the move back to University. I am trying to write lots of lists to make sure everything gets done.

Happy Wednesday everybody!

City of Love

J’adore Paris – 35mm

Around 3 years ago my cousins and I spent a couple nights in Paris. We ate, we drank and visited every sight there is to the point our feet were in pieces. For some stupid reason I wore high heels on the day we visited the Eiffel Tower and by the end my feet were in 2, I do not wear high heels and I don’t think I ever have since. My mum booked this trip to Paris for us and placed us in the gay capital of Paris so going out in the evenings was hilarious. We met the funniest people while sat drinking funky cocktails.

I used a 35mm lens camera to take thee photos and they came out amazing. I love the look of disposable cameras and this is just a better quality version. It made the whole trip look extremely vintage and old fashion which is the style I love. I haven’t used this camera since because I just have to found an occasion. There is so much technology these days, when i go abroad I would be taking 3 cameras.

Paris is definitely somewhere I would visit again but there are a lot more city breaks that I want to do first including Berlin, Dublin, Amsterdam, Rome and I would definitely rush back to Barcelona first!!

I am currently getting all my outfits together for Boomtown on Thursday, how exciting!! Typical that the weather had done a complete 1-80, now its meant to be raining this weekend.

The golden hour & 5 fake tanning tips everyone should know

img_0250-1img_0249-1

Pictures taken at the best time of the day, early evening when the sun is at the perfect angle to get the best quality pictures. These are pictures from my family holiday to Portugal. I was slightly scared to upload them as bikini pics have never been my thing, even though I am away a lot, haha! I way prefer taking pictures of the scenery or other people.

In need of vitamin D

Recently I have got really into tanning. All my friends at University do the same so standing next to them on nights out and in photographs can make me feel really insecure because at the moment I am extremely pale, to the point I feel like I look ill all the time.
I use Bondi Sands – Dark as it was recommended by my close friends as being the best one, all though it is slightly more expensive. I am now addicted!

My 5 fake tanning tips:

NUMBER 1: MAKE SURE TO SCRUB

Exfoliating before tanning is very important. It will remove the dead skin cells and create a smooth surface for you to apply the fake tan. I love to use exfoliating gloves with a Body Shop Body Scrub – which a speak about in my blog post about clearing dead skin this time of the year.

NUMBER 2: BE CLEVER WITH MOISTURE

On the day of your self tanning, try and stay clear of any sort of moisturisers. It can make your skin crack meaning the tanning will not go on smoothly and will mix in with the product. Stick to just exfoliating,

NUMBER 3: SMOOTH YOUR SKIN

Try and shave your legs/have a wax before tanning. It will leave you with super soft skin and will look even better with a tan.

NUMBER 4: START AT THE BOTTOM

The best technique is to start self tanning from the bottom of your boy to the tip. Use your mitt and rub the self tanner into your skin in circular motions, from your ankles up and work your way up to your shoulders. Save your arms and hands for last.

NUMBER 5: PRESERVE IT

With Bondi Sands, my tan lasts around a week before it starts going slightly patchy but there a measures which can be taken for it to last as long as possible. Wash your skin with a gentle cleanser, not a tough exfoliator and make sure that your skin is always moisterized. When you are ready for your skin to be refreshed, exfoliate your skin and start again.

Never been to Notting Hill

Dress – TopShop

This is literally my favourite dress at the moment, it was a very spontaneous buy and different to what I would normally wear as I don’t think I have ever owned anything orange because of my blonde hair. But it works so I would recommend!!

Saturday 21st July

On Saturday my best friend Katie – KT – from University came to visit me in London. She only lives in Gatwick so it is not far for her so she had to come to London for the day while I was here!

I decided we should go to Notting Hill as neither of us had been there before and I heard it is a very funky place. When we got off the underground at Notting Hill station we were so confused. I kind of assumed that when we got there the market would be on our doorstep but I was completely wrong. We found a farmers market and I just assumed that this is all there was, so we stopped at had an early lunch at Zizzis – not very adventurous of us.

We were sat there for quite a long time because we had sooooooo much to catch up on. You have probably seen KT on my blog before on my blog but she is my flat mate from University and we had not seen each other for around 2 months. Going from seeing each other to not seeing each other at all meant we had too much to talk about, but you will definitely be seeing more of her on here very soon.

Before we were about to get the Underground to Chelsea to go ‘Made in Chelsea’ star spotting, I suggested that we just walk a bit further past the station and see what we find. LUCKILY, us venturing out meant we found the huge market and it was so much fun. As you can see from the pictures Notting Hill is filled with flowers, colour and pretty houses.

After walking right to the end of the market (there are a lot of stores) we thought it was best to start making our way to a station to get to Chelsea. Little did we know… that a lot of the stations shut between 2:00PM – 5:30PM on a Saturday and a Sunday to stop traffic – LONDONERS PLEASE TAKE THIS IN!! So after walking miles, we just decided to get a bus to Camden. By the time we had settled down it was time for KT to go back home 😦

Sorry I have been a bit MIA, been super busy trying to make the most of my time in London with friends, my cousins and just making sure I explore!

What am I doing in London & how I am staying organised

I spent Saturday afternoon shopping in Oxford Circus and walking around Carnaby Street. I have never actually been to Carnaby Street and I did not realise how close it was to Oxford Circus but I have always heard good things. It is very funky!

On Friday night my Uni friends and I went to Fabric. It was my first time ever clubbing in London and was definitely one to remember! It was not as scary as I thought it would be.

This is the cute water fountain which is in the kitchen of the office I am working in. I will try and take a lot more pictures of the office as it is so cute, there are plants everywhere and even a roof top balcony.

I am currently a week into my work placement in London and I bet you wonder what I am doing here?

One evening, this lady from down the road asked me to babysit for her children. I said yes because I needed the money and knew it would help her out a lot. When I got there we began talking about University, where I told her I studied Communications and Media at Bournemouth. We had a long old chat about it before she bought up that she used to work for a PR company called FireFly. The lovely women then hooked me up with this amazing work experience in London, where I am going to the FireFly office everyday and learning about what they do.

This is an amazing experience for me as I have always said I want to live in a big city one day, and here is my chance to see if I like it.

I am staying with my second cousins in Stockwell which is just a short commute work. Unfortunately I did not know how busy the tube gets, I don’t know if that is just me being naive but it is awful!! Some mornings I am having to wait for 2 or 3 trains to pass just because I can’t fit on them. I think it is the only time you can be so close into somebodies personal space without it being a problem. I also find it a really weird concept because nobody talks? It is completely silent, everybody is either people watching, reading or listening to their music. The tube is a silent train filled with hundreds of people, its very odd.

Lucky enough for me I have University friends that live in London, so I am not fully on my own. I have a lot of plans for the next 2 weeks, where I am seeing friends and trying to be the biggest tourist I can. Right now, I am currently sat in a coffee shop in Oxford Circus before I go shopping. Being in London is the best excuse to leave the house.

While I am here I want to sit in Hyde Park, visit Soho art galleries, got to Carnaby Street, go for a drink up The Shard and visit Covent Gardens.

So far I have already been to Camden market, as I met my friend Carolina there to watch the football (we couldn’t get into any pubs tho!) On Friday night my friends and I also went to Fabric which was amazing.

My first week in London has been a lot of fun. I am really enjoying my work placement, the people I am working with are lovely and I am just enjoying being a Londoner. There is always stuff to do! My aim for the next week is too take a lot more pictures of my outfits, my food and also to stop spending so much money!

Hope you have enjoyed this little update of what is going on in my life. I really am making the most out of my time here and I want to take you with me on my adventure.

“When it rains, look for rainbows”

How am I staying organised in London?

My way of staying organised is too keep a hand diary and write absolutely everything into it. What time you start work, your plans to see friends, scheduling in the gym. Absolutely everything, put it in your diary. I can stress to you all how much this helps me. I am the type of person that gets extremely stressed out if I don’t have it all laid out in front of me. I don’t like using my phone to stay organised, or online calendars, I prefer to have it all written down in a book in front of me.

This diary I have bought started at the beginning of July, which is perfect as this is when I started full time work in London. It is the perfect way for me to know what I need to get done that day. It also means I can try and fit in seeing everybody while I am here without getting the days wrong!

Summer List

SUMMER PLANS:

This year I have quite a few plans. First of all I am going to Portugal with my family for 10 days, then as soon as I get back I am moving to London for 3 weeks to work with Firefly media. I got work experience there through a lady I baby sat for!! Exciting, I will explain more about it when it comes to it. Then I have BOOMTOWN and am going to Malaga with my friends at the beginning of September. These are my main plans but also have a lot of little days out and festivals planned as well!

FAVOURITE SUMMER DRINK:

Pimms or Thatchers and Black, I normally drink wine but I feel like it is more for the Winter. Wine can be a bit thick especially when it is so warm outside.

1.THE WEATHER (well its very hit and miss in England, haha!) 2. Spending time outside with friends and family. 3. Festival season!!!

My weekend in photos

A second dinner with Solly, Friday evening at The Bear Inn. I had already eaten noodles, so I just got a baked camembert, where as Solly got a second dinner, ahah!

On Saturday we watched England play football around my friends house, ITS COMING HOME! We then spent the rest of the day celebrating in the sunshine.

On Sunday, Mum and I travelled to London by train as I am starting my 3 week work experience at Firefly Media. We spent the day trying to find my bearings around London before getting an early night before tomorrow.

The beginning of the Summer…

If you have followed my blog for a while you would know that I make little videos of everything I do. I have had absolutely no motivation to make any at the moment but finally picked myself up and put together a ‘Beginning of the Summer’ video, more like a Spring 2018 video to be honest! These are all videos from January to May, including the BU Summer Ball, University fun, Love Saves the Day, a weekend in Bath, Bristol and a lot more.

Hopefully throughout the Summer I will be making a lot more, let me know if you like it!

Thursday 28th June

On Thursday we had a very lazy morning and then spent the whole afternoon at The Lagoon (a salt water lake), this is what our view is of when we look out over our balcony. My brother, sister, cousin and I did paddle boarding but my auntie, uncle, mum and dad did kaiaking. The wind was so so strong that Alice and I were not strong enough to move through the current. We would look back at the hut where we hired the boards and hadn’t moved anywhere, ahah! We started to get so frustrated, that dad and mum pulled us along on their kaike. We felt like royalty, haha!

In the evening, Alice and I cooked for everyone (well we cooked the bolognese and mum made the spaghetti, salad and garlic bread, haha!) This was while everybody was watching the football.

Victoria Secret – Water Blooms & Amber Romance

When my Dad is coming home from Saudi, he picks up a Victoria Secret spray for Alice, Mum and I. This time he got me a different flavour which I love!! I am also a bit obsessed with my Mums.

At the moment I am using the Amber Romance and Mum is using Water Blooms – this one smells very fresh!

A look back on June & my goals for July

Recap of June

This month I have spent, moving out of halls, catching up with friends and working to pay for all my Summer plans.

On the 2nd June I had the Summer Ball which I have spoken about before. It was so much fun, my friends and I dressed up as eggs, haha! The next day I officially moved out of University and came back to see my boyfriend.

Throughout the last month I have been trying to get back into my fitness as I want to be completely body confident for festivals and my holidays. Since coming on holiday it has gone completely down the drain. I have been scoffing my face on cheese and bread, while my brother, sister and mum have been getting up at 9:00AM to do a workout, haha. I don’t know why I am just not in the mood while I am on holiday.

When I get back from Portugal, I only have 4 days before I move to London for 3 weeks, ahh!! I am also working so I need to get myself organised now as there is a lot of shopping to do, a lot packing and a lot of friends to see before hand!! Solly is away with his family at the moment in Portugal (but 3 hours from me) and isn’t getting home till a day after me, so I won’t have very long to spend time with him before not seeing him for nearly a month :(.

I am absolutely loving Grace Fit UK at the moment. She has become a very big inspiration! Check out her YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1QbgAuzMDsWn7eCtImRB7Q

July Goals

I am not going to really call these goals, more of a plan. As I have said I am spending most of July in London and I want to make the most of it. I absolutely love London but going from a small village in Somerset to such a big city will be a culture shock.

I have found a gym just down the road from where I am staying, and I am planning to lose at least half a stone. I am going to achieve this by meal planning, staying busy and organising my workouts, rather than just turning up at the gym. I want to be feeling confident in what I am wearing at Boomtown, which is just after I get back from London.

I want to prioritise what is important. While I am in London, it is important to make the most of my opportunity, to keep up with my blogging and fitness. I will also be spending a lot of time with close University friends while I am away. I want to find out what London has to offer, not just stick to what I know, you never know, I could love it so much I move there after University.

I will be sharing a lot more about what I am doing in London throughout my time there. Press the follow button to keep updated!
